Beloved Antiques Roadshow expert Theo Burrell has been delighting viewers since she joined the cast in 2018.

But in June 2022, the 38-year-old star was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma shared, with the star sharing the heartbreaking news with her loyal legion of fans.

Two years on, the antiques guru has shared a deeply personal update on Instagram about her ongoing battle with the disease and reflected on life expectancy predictions.

She began: "Today marks 2.5 years since I was diagnosed with a glioblastoma. This rather gruesome photo was how my scar looked before the staples were removed - it really is an experience filled with glamour and beauty!"

Despite anxiously awaiting her upcoming scan results on December 18, Theo remains reflective and defiant. She went on: "So here I still am, anxiously awaiting my scan results on 18th December and trying to keep distracted.

"But still being alive reminds me of something important - a life expectancy at the beginning of diagnosis is an educated guess, NOT a fact.

"Sometimes it's an overestimation, sometimes it's spot on, and sometimes you're condemned but manage to beat the prediction. We're all unique, our cancers are unique - all we can do is put one foot in front of the other."

The mum-of-one also paid tribute to others who have faced similar battles, adding: "I'm always thinking of those not with us any longer - the fight continues for them, for us, and for those to come."

It comes after Theo shared the “heartbreaking” news that her brain tumour was growing in October after being diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma – a type of fast-growing brain tumour – in June 2022.

“It’s with some heartbreak that I can confirm my glioblastoma has started regrowing,” she told fans on Instagram. “Although this was always an inevitability it has been a difficult couple of weeks for me and my family, as we deal with the news and await a treatment plan.”

She added that she is “extremely grateful” for the “good quality of life” she has had over the past two years and the news has “fuelled” her to keep “fighting”. Theo went on: “I intend to take on the next step of my journey with everything I’ve got.

“If anything this has just fueled my fire to keep fighting for us all. We, as a community, as patients, as carers, as family and friends of those who have or have had a brain tumour, quite frankly deserve a lot better!”

The broadcaster added that her brain tumour was “missed” by doctors, but she eventually had a CT scan at her local A&E and underwent brain surgery six days after the tumour was located, revealing 90% of it was removed.

Theo then underwent six weeks of radiotherapy alongside chemotherapy before starting six rounds of adjuvant chemotherapy. She finished her initial treatment in March 2023.

Since her initial diagnosis, Burrell has become a patron of Brain Tumour Research, a charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours and increasing the UK investment in brain tumour research.
