Virgin River's 'perfect replacement' gets huge update on future for global viewers
Fans of Virgin River have more to celebrate this week as they eagerly await the return of Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) in just a few days.
The much-awaited sixth season of the popular romance series is set to premiere next Thursday (December 19).
In addition, another small-town drama with an increasing fan base has been confirmed for continuation.
Interestingly, this series shares not only a similar premise but also the same author, Robyn Carr, who penned the adventures of Mel and Jack.
Sullivan's Crossing, starring Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray, tells the story of a neurosurgeon who returns to her Nova Scotia hometown to reconnect with her father, only to find more than she expected.

The show was already renewed for a third season in June this year, reports the Daily Record.
Previously, the series was initially available on CTV in Canada before being aired on The CW at a later date.
However, this pattern may change as The CW has joined the third season, which is slated to air on both networks in 2025. This could mean that the upcoming 10-episode season might be broadcast simultaneously in the US and Canada.

The show has already received high praise from viewers.
On Reddit, fans dove into the similarities between Virgin River and the Canadian drama. One fan commented: "Very similar story to VS about a woman who's a neurosurgeon who needs to leave her life in Boston to go stay in her childhood town.
"It's shot in Nova Scotia and has lovely scenic views of nature just like VR. It's set in a small cosy town with a romance and basically feels like a Canadian version of VR. I think it's a better show tbh."
Echoing the sentiment, another fan pointed out: "Same writer but it's a bit slower and more dramatic, like emotionally dramatic."

Gilmore Girls legend Scott Patterson also stars (Image: CTV)Adding to the chorus, a fellow viewer noted "It definitely has a similar small town charm but with a bit less cheesiness," elaborating "A doctor in legal trouble goes home to her small town."
Describing Sullivan's Crossing, another participant chimed in, branding it as "basically the same show" as Virgin River.
And a final viewer shared: "It gets some hate on this subreddit but don't let that stop you. Keep expectations low and the tissues at hand. Also, keep an eye out for the VR and GG actors."
With much anticipation for Virgin River's season six, audiences are encouraged to not sleep on Sullivan's Crossing, touted as a prime placeholder during the inter-seasonal wait.
Virgin River season 6 will be released Thursday, December 19 on Netflix. Sullivan’s Crossing airs on CTV in Canada and The CW in the USA.
