Mariah Carey announces Netflix's NFL Christmas Gameday

Mariah Carey, the Queen of Christmas, is set to make a special appearance in an upcoming sporting event this festive season on Netflix.

The All I Want For Christmas Is You singer will perform in the Show Open for NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25th, marking the first-ever NFL Games to be streamed on Netflix.

She will commence the event with a pre-recorded performance of her chart-topping holiday single.

The day's line-up includes two games for sports enthusiasts, starting with Super Bowl LVIII champions Kansas City Chiefs versus Pittsburgh Steelers at 1PM ET (6PM GMT), followed by Baltimore Ravens against Houston Texans at 4:30 PM ET (9:30PM GMT).

As per tradition, the NFL will broadcast the games on TV in the competing team cities and on US mobile devices via NFL+.

However, its availability on Netflix allows American Football fans globally to join in the excitement - a welcome change for those who've had their fill of Christmas films.

Adding to the festive cheer, Mariah's latest rendition of her holiday classic will be a highlight on Netflix. Her legendary album Merry Christmas, featuring the immensely popular single All I Want For Christmas Is You, will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2024.

The song has achieved an astounding 16x Platinum certification from the RIAA, making it the highest-certified single ever recorded by a female artist, reports the Mirror.

As of December 9 this year, the song has reigned supreme on the Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive 15 cumulative weeks, thanks to streaming, radio and sales.

While Mariah Carey undoubtedly remains the Queen of Christmas, Netflix is also serving up a festive feast of titles.

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is vying for the crown with her first-ever variety show, A Nonsense Christmas, recently launched on the platform.

The star-studded guest list includes pop icons Chappell Roan and Shania Twain, as well as Quinta Brunson, Sean Astin and Cara Delevingne.
