BBC Morning Live star brushes over Gregg Wallace MasterChef drama on air

BBC Morning Live host Jacqui Joseph tactfully sidestepped recent controversies as she introduced the three finalists of Masterchef: The Professionals on Thursday's (December 12) episode.

The Homes Under The Hammer regular, co-hosting with Gordon Smart, engaged in a lively chat with Chiara Tomasoni, Dan Merriman and George Birtwell ahead of the much-anticipated final.

Before diving into the interview, Jacqui addressed the audience at home, stating: "As you may have noticed there's been a lot of noise and headlines over the last few weeks but as the latest series reaches its climax we're not focusing on any of that but on the competition itself."

This comes in the wake of MasterChef host Gregg Wallace stepping back from his role amidst ongoing investigations into allegations, which he has vehemently denied.

Despite the cancellation of two MasterChef Christmas specials by the BBC, MasterChef: The Professionals has maintained its regular broadcast schedule. John Torode, Wallace's co-host, described the allegations as "truly upsetting", while a BBC representative expressed gratitude to those "who had the courage to speak out", reports Surrey Live.

Banijay UK is spearheading the investigation into Wallace due to their professional ties. The broadcaster clarified: "He is not employed by the BBC.

When issues have been raised with the BBC we have taken action, referring issues to the relevant production company and challenging his behaviour directly as has been widely reported."

Wallace's representative has been approached by Reach PLC for a statement.
