A New Jersey politician has been found to have shared a fake Spotify Wrapped in a bid to champion Bruce Springsteen.

âNo surprises here⦠Fun fact: My first ever concert was at Meadowlands to see The Boss!â he shared on social media, alongside an image which showed his top five songs of the past 12 months being the singerâs hits âThunder Roadâ, âBecause the Nightâ, âGlory Daysâ, âBadlandsâ, and âThe Risingâ.

Upon the results being shared, however, some viewers were quick to notice slight discrepancies between the politicianâs results and the Wrapped results shared online by other Spotify users.
In the screenshot Gottheimer shared on X/Twitter, there seemed to be a slightly different font choice for the song titles, and the spacing between the letters seemed slightly askew â leading to it being deemed a fake.
After outlets like the New Jersey Monitor weighed in and asked him for comment, Gottheimer went on to reveal he had doctored the results to avoid including his childrenâs choice in music in the list.
âThis would be my Spotify Wrapped if I didnât share my account with my 12 and 15-year-old kids,â Gottheimer said in a statement. âWhile itâs Springsteen all day for me â donât get me wrong, I still love listening to Taylor Swift!â
He continued: âTo paraphrase the Boss: I wasnât here for business baby, I was only here for fun. So just relax. This was a fun holiday tweet. Itâs a joke to question my Springsteen creds, just ask my dog named Rosalita!

Later, he went on to clarify his actual results for the Top Five songs and artists he had on Spotify for 2024. Springsteen still took first place on the artist list, and other names included Billy Joel, Drake, Travis Scott, and Taylor Swift.
As for songs, it was Billy Joelâs âTurn The Lights Back Onâ which came in top spot, followed by Travis Scottâs âFE!Nâ, Springsteenâs âSheâs The Oneâ, Prasâ âGhetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)â and Taylor Swiftâs âGetaway Carâ.
Since everyone is dying to know, Iâm actually a real Springsteen fan. The biggest surprise here is I managed to listen to more music than my kids this year. pic.twitter.com/zrxomPFtNy

The 2024 edition of Spotify Wrapped arrived last week and, as ever, allowed users to reflect on their listening habits from the past 12 months in its âCelebration Of Your Yearâ experience. Others in the public eye to share their results included Chappell Roan, who had Heartâs 1977 hit âBarracudaâ as her most listened track of the year, and Sabrina Carpenter, who admitted her own name made the list.
As for the results in the UK, it was confirmed that Arctic Monkeys and Oasis were the UKâs top indie bands, followed by The Smiths, Radiohead and Gorillaz.
As for Bruce Springsteen news, The Boss has had a huge 2024 so far, including wrapping up a massive world tour, appearing at Kamala Harrisâ rallies and fighting off rumours that he is a billionaire.
