Tiger Woods looks set to get his wish after calling for Greg Norman to resign from his position as the head of LIV Golf, which could pave the way for peace with the PGA Tour.

LIV Golf, spearheaded by Norman since 2021, has been at loggerheads with the PGA Tour, especially after the latter instigated bans on players joining the Saudi-backed series.

The rift in men’s golf reached a zenith under Norman’s leadership. A couple of years ago, Woods, the legendary golfer, shared his perspective on the feud: "Right now as it is, not right now, not with their leadership, not with Greg there and his animosity towards the Tour itself I don't see that happening.

"I think Greg's got to leave and then we can eventually, hopefully, have a stay between the two lawsuits and figure something out. But why would you change anything if you've got a lawsuit against you? They sued us first."

However, a significant development appears on the horizon as both entities have ceased their legal disputes, following a pact agreed upon last June.

Insiders allege PGA Tour chiefs, including Woods, are conducting intensive talks with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, notably excluding Greg Norman from these discussions.

While no official agreement has been reached, it appears that Woods' call for Norman's removal is close to fruition reports the US Mirror. Norman himself admitted this week that a new CEO for LIV is imminent.

Speaking to Wish TV, he confirmed: "Is there going to be a new CEO? Yes. There will be a new CEO. I'm fine with that," and added, "Will I always have a place and be involved with LIV to some capacity? Yes.

"I'll always have that. Because of the impact that has been created in the game of golf by LIV, I've had a small, small piece of that, which I'm proud of... I've seen it come from a business model on paper to giving birth on the golf course to where it is today."

Last month, Sports Business Journal was the first to report on Norman's potential departure, and now rumours suggest LIV bosses are considering Scott O'Neil as his replacement.

O'Neil, who recently stepped down from his role at London-based Merlin Entertainments, announced his exit from the entertainment firm last November.
