Discussions have reached fever pitch among Yellowstone enthusiasts as the Paramount Network series barrels towards its conclusion on December 15.

The latest instalment has seen Kayce Dutton, portrayed by Luke Grimes, earn heaps of acclaim from viewers for his decisive actions, with fans asserting through X (Twitter) that recent episodes highlight how "underrated" the character truly is.

Season five's second chapter zooms in on the trials and tribulations of the Dutton siblings - including Beth (Kelly Reilly), Jamie (Wes Bentley), and notably Kayce.

This narrative pivot follows the dramatic departure of their patriarch, John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner), whose absence since the first episode was foreshadowed by the actor confirming his exit from the show earlier this year, reports the Mirror US.

After witnessing Kayces assertive stance in the new episode, audiences were quick to express their praise for the youngest Dutton family members development.

One tweeted: “Seeing KAYCE be the main focus in an episode of #yellowstone was great to see. One of the most underrated characters on the show and to see him take charge was fantastic.” (sic)

They also tweeted: “KAYCE is a Bad**s. Never thought he would do what he did in this episode. My goodness was it good. This is the KAYCE we should've got since Season 1. Seeing him be the main focus and taking matters into his own hands is so good.” (sic)

“Every season my respect grew for this man, but I fall in love with Kayce more and more with each episode this season. Y’all better protect him at all cost!” another person shared.

“wooooo boy this is the Kayce i came here to see! Played back that car scene like 6 times,” an enthusiastic fan commented. (sic)

One viewer was taken aback by a shocking plot twist, writing: "Kayce pointing a gun at a child? Damn, he is not f***ing around." (sic)

However, another fan had mixed feelings, stating: "Kayce going full on beast mode was cool, although the thing with the guy's daughter was a bit much."

Over on Reddit, one fan couldn't contain their excitement, posting: "Kayce Dutton - He's Back!"

Another reflected on the shocking scene, saying: "Man I never thought I would see Kayce putting a gun to a child's head. But he's in f*** it mode and is doing everything he can to protect his family." (sic)

"That last segment was amazing. The darkness that came out in order to protect his family was so real," another agreed.

While another fan commented: "He was indeed savage even though putting a gun in that poor girl's face kinda was way too much and over the top."

Yellowstone airs Sunday nights on Paramount Network, with UK audiences able to stream it the following day on Paramount Plus.
