BBC Radio 2 presenter in mortifying on-air blunder as co-star calls her out

Sally Traffic recalls giving out her personal phone number

BBC Radio 2 favourite Sally Boazman – otherwise known as Sally Traffic – recalled a mortifying blunder during her first weeks on the radio station.

During Saturday afternoon’s show (November 30), Romesh Ranganathan welcomed beloved talk show host and former Radio 2 presenter Graham Norton on the show.

The Irish presenter – who hosted the mid-morning show for ten years before he left – delighted listeners with hilarious stories from some of the biggest A listers in Hollywood.

But he also managed to embarrass the veteran broadcaster moments before she delivered the latest traffic news. Speaking to the 46-year-old broadcaster, Graham revealed one awkward blunder that left the 67-year-old traffic presenter utterly red-faced.

He chuckled: “My favourite memory of you, Sally, over the years was one day after you did the travel, you know when you give out the number for people to give in travel tips. Well, Sally gave out her own phone number.”

The studio immediately burst into laughter as Romesh had to move away from the mic as he giggled in the studio. The mum-of-one confirmed: “I did, I actually did.”

The 61-year-old chat show host quipped: “A lot of truckers already had it” as she turned to him in disgust and fumed: “How very dare you.”

She went on: “No, the trouble is I realised I did it and I almost immediately got rid of it, but I still got lots of very weird messages.” “I bet you did!” Graham added as the pair still chuckled at her expense on the show.

It didn’t take long before fans flooded to social media to poke fun at her hilarious mistake online. One user penned: “[four cry-laughing emojis] Oh Sally, Saturdays are my favourite day on Radio 2. You’re brilliant.”

Another agreed: “I remember Sally doing that lol love her, Graham was brilliant today [heart emoji]” as a third echoed: “I remember that [two cry-laughing emojis, heart emoji].”

It comes after Zoe Ball revealed the real reason she is stepping back from BBC Radio 2 after she announced she would be leaving the promgramme after six years last month.

At 53, Zoe expressed her deep appreciation for the outpouring of support post-announcement, stating she is "really touched" by the kind messages and well-wishes she received as she prepares to leave her role as host.

Having taken over from Chris Evans in 2019, Zoe is ready to say goodbye to the early starts, emphasizing her need to "step away from the very early mornings and focus on family".

Her last show is scheduled for December 20, with Mills, currently in the afternoon slot, gearing up to assume the morning mantle in January.
