Carry-On release date and cast as Netflix's $47million thriller already has fans in frenzy
Carry-On is on its way to Netflix and the film has already been described by eager viewers as the next 'Die Hard'. Back in 2021, the legendary Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners made a deal with the streaming platform to produce multiple films.
Carry-On was planned to be the first film to come from the deal, which written by T.J. Fixman. According to Fastlane, the feature film had an estimated expenditure of $47million.
The film follows Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a passenger to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. Carry-On director Jaume Collet-Serra specializes in this kind of thriller.
He previously told Tudum: “Contained environments force us to get to know the movie’s characters very quickly and personally — we’re immediately in the thick of the story with them, which creates a genuine investment in what’s happening on-screen.
“It’s also a very exciting visual challenge as a filmmaker to come up with creative ways to shoot every inch of a small space and try to make it look different and find new details of the world in each scene.”

Viewers in the US should have access from midnight, with those in the UK having to wait until 8am for the film to drop.

Who is in Carry-On?Ethan Kopek is played by Taron Egerton, a 35-year-old Welsh actor known for his roles in Kingsman films, Eddie the Eagle and Rocketman.
The mysterious unnamed traveller is played by Jason Bateman, a 55-year-old American actor and director known for his roles in Arrested Development and Ozark.
Agent Alcott is played by Logan Marshall-Green, a 48-year-old American actor and filmmaker known for his roles in Dark Blue, 24 and Traveler.
Nora Parisi, Ethan's love interest, is played by Sofia Carson, an American actress and singer who has starred in Evil Queen and Descendants.
Elena Cole is played by Danielle Deadwyler, a 42-year-old American actress known for her roles in The Haves and the Have Nots and P-Valley.
Rounding off the cast are Theo Rossi, Dean Norris, Sinqua Walls, Josh Brener, Joe Williamson, Curtiss Cook, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz and Gil Perez-Abraham.
