Kendrick Lamar Earns His Fifth Straight No. 1 Album With 'GNX'

Kendrick Lamar is opening this week's Billboard 200 at No. 1 with GNX.

The surprise album earned a total of 319,000 equivalent album units in its first week, including 285,000 in streaming equivalent album units (379.92 million on-demand streams of the songs), 32,000 in album sales and 2,000 in track equivalent album units. GNX is 2024's sixth-largest opening week so far by equivalent album units, holds the record for the biggest streaming week of the year for any R&B/hip-hop album, the year's second-biggest debut streaming week and 2024's third-largest streaming week overall. To top it off, the album marks Dot's fifth consecutive chart-topper following Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, DAMN., Untitled Unmastered and To Pimp a Butterfly.

Also debuting in this week's top 10 is the Wicked film soundtrack at No. 2, opening with 139,000 equivalent album units to become the highest debut by a film adaptation of a stage musical.

Elsewhere on the chart are Sabrina Carpenter at No. 3, Tyler, the Creator at No. 4, Billie Eilish at No. 5, Gracie Abrams at No. 6, Rauw Alejandro at No. 7, Taylor Swift at No. 8, Morgan Wallen at No. 9 and Chappell Roan at No. 10.
