BBC Antiques Roadshow guest delighted as husband's crown jewel valued for thousands
Antiques Roadshow saw a guest fall "in love" this evening (December 1) as she valued a crown from her husband. The BBC show was in Cromford Mills in Derbyshire when people brought their hidden gems to be valued.
One show visitor brought a minuture velvet crown on to the BBC show, which had come from Chatsworth House. The lady shared that she had received the item two years ago from her husband as a Valentine's Day gift but it had originally come from an attic sale at the estate back in 2010.
Expert Chris Yeo explained a bit more about the beautiful piece as he said: "What it is is a crown fit for a King, you might say, or even a Duke.
"Probably for storing trinkets. Victorian, with this gilt metal outline and a velvet inset. If you turn the crown, like that, then the top comes off and you have a velvet lined interior."
While demonstrating how the exquisite piece worked, the expert added: "It's a lovely, lovely thing. Extremely good quality. It's something I would be delighted to have at home."

Staying on the topic of affordability, Chris said: "Which brings us on to price. If that came to auction now, with Chatsworth province, I can see that fetching between £800 and £1,200."

She replied: "I love it, I just love it.
"I'm very happy. I think my husband will be really pleased. I think he's just as intrigued as I am to find out a little bit more so yeah we're very happy."

Since its debut on our screens in 1997, Antiques Roadshow has enthralled audiences with episodes that continue to captivate viewers today. While some unearthed items are bereft of monetary value, others have been found to carry fortunes.
The crown on tonight's episode was not the only royal item to ever be shown. A guest once presented a seemingly ordinary document from 1563 on Antiques Roadshow, which turned out to be a rare item bearing the signature of Queen Elizabeth I.
The document was a licence permitting an Elizabethan adventurer to discover gunpowder. Book expert Clive Farahar was astounded by the valuable item and estimated its worth at a staggering £35,000.
