Ange Postecoglou delivers stubborn Tottenham vow after 'entertaining' Roma draw
Ange Postecoglou has insisted that Tottenham will continue to play entertaining football despite dropping points in a 2-2 draw against Roma in the Europa League.
Spurs had looked on course for victory after Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson cancelled out Evan N’Dicka’s equaliser, but were unable to secure the win after hitting the woodwork three times and missing several chances.
Mats Hummels levelled late on for Roma and the result leaves Tottenham ninth in the league phase of the competition, outside the automatic qualification spots for the last-16 stage.
However, when asked if he would sacrifice style for results in their remaining group games, Postecoglou responded: "No. Why can’t it just be entertaining? Isn’t it why we all come? Would you really prefer us to sketch out a couple of 0-0 draws and a 1-0 win and we get through? I don’t know.
"I would much rather we’re exciting to watch and maybe it is edge-of-the-seat-stuff and sometimes we don’t get the reward, like we could have tonight, but no, if you want those kind of games, there are plenty in world football you can watch every weekend.
"I’d like to think when you tune into us you’ll be entertained. There’s three games to go and we’re in a pretty decent position. You try to win every game you can and see where that takes you."

Spurs will make their way to Rangers, who are currently poised one spot higher in the league after their convincing victory over Nice, next time out. A riveting match unfurled in north London, with Son’s early penalty being leveled by N’Dicka’s headed goal off Dybala’s set-piece.

Nevertheless, Roma summoned a strong response in the second half with two goals dismissed for offside and Angelino grazing the crossbar with a blistering volley.
Spurs managed to rally and came close when Pedro Porro hit the crossbar, followed by Dominic Solanke's header against the post from Archie Gray’s delivery, leading to a tense finish. The drama peaked when Forster's heroic save to stop Mancini was rendered moot as Hummels smashed in a goal from Angelino’s cross.

Spurs boss Postecoglou lamented: "Yeah, we should have killed it off a lot earlier. At 2-1 you’re always keeping the opposition in the game, and they’re throwing men forward, so disappointing we weren’t able to see the game out. Ultimately we’re still in a decent position."
Ranieri, relishing his third stint at the helm for Roma, couldn't conceal his delight with the team's performance. He reflected on the hard-fought point earned: "I am very happy with the performance.
"Every single player gave all they had and I am very happy for the fans because they could see a team with desire and pride.
"We had three goals disallowed and we scored at the last. This is the type of performance I love."
