Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo stars in a thrilling new Netflix series, where he plays a media pundit fighting to clear his name.

In The Madness, Domingo portrays Muncie Daniels, a media pundit who finds himself embroiled in a murder mystery deep within the Poconos mountains. As the pressure mounts, Muncie must reconnect with his estranged family and rediscover his lost ideals to survive.

The entire eight-episode series of The Madness will be available on Netflix from Thursday (November 28). The cast also includes Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham and John Ortiz.

Born on November 28, 1969, Colman Domingo hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The third child in a family of four, Domingo was raised by his mother Edith Bowles, a bank worker, and his stepfather Clarence, a floor sander. Domingo's biological father left the family when he was just nine years old.

As a child, Domingo had a lisp and attended speech therapy classes.

Domingo, who aspired to be an actor, graduated from Overbrook High School before attending Temple University, where he studied journalism.

Colman Domingo, rather than pursuing a career in journalism, opted for acting and relocated to San Francisco. Here, he featured in numerous theatre productions while also teaching at various universities and working as a bartender as he strived to break into the television industry.

Domingo's talents were showcased in several Broadway productions, earning him multiple awards and nominations. He also had minor roles in Clint Eastwood's True Crime, Desi's Looking for a New Girl and Freedomland.

During this period, Domingo made appearances in Law and Order, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, and Law and Order: Trial by Jury.

The 2010s saw Domingo's career truly take flight. He starred in Miracle at St. Anna, 42, Lincoln, Selma and The Butler before landing a significant role as Victor Strand in Fear the Walking Dead.

His profile was further elevated with his performances in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and as a ruthless pimp in Zola.

His most prominent roles include If Beale Street Could Talk, an Emmy-winning performance in Euphoria, civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in the Netflix film Rustin and Mister in the movie musical adaptation of The Color Purple.

In 2025, Domingo is slated to portray Joe Jackson in the musical biopic Michael and will both direct and star in the leading role of an untitled Nat King Cole biopic.

At 54, Domingo has received numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award, and nominations for an Academy Award and two Tony Awards.

Colman Domingo and Raul Domingo share a love story straight from the pages of modern romance, having first connected through Craigslist back in 2005. After cementing their relationship, they tied the knot nearly a decade later in 2014.

Speaking to Advocate, Domingo reflected on their journey together: "We've been together for 17 years, and this year we did a GQ article together and opened up our home for Architectural Digest."

Domingo also confided, "We discovered a lot about ourselves during the pandemic, and that's made us and me a bit more confident in our bond and about opening up," sharing insights into the strength and evolution of their partnership over the tumultuous pandemic period.

Rooted in Los Angeles, the couple recently invested in a piece of the scenic Malibu coastline, expanding their horizons with a new home.
