Deadmau5 releases euphoric new song via mobile tank game

Iconic electronic artist Deadmau5 has collaborated with mobile game World of Tanks Blitz to unveil his new song ‘Familiars’.

‘Familiars’ will be available on digital service providers later this week (November 29) but the music video for the euphoric club banger is out now. It features Deadmau5 putting on his mau5head and becoming a digital avatar before jumping into his customised tank and careening through a city landscape.

World of Tanks Blitz is a free-to-play action shooter where players join teams of seven and take part in battles with other tanks.

As well as working together on the new track, World Of Tanks Blitz is also set to host the  ‘Deadmau5 In The House’ event. A pre-party takes place December 2 while the full collab will run until December 26. Players will be able to collect a number of in-game rewards like the mau5tank, a Deadmau5-themed controller tank that comes with lasers, speakers, and lights, as well as a Blink camo inspired by Deadmau5’s infamous Nyanborghini Purracan, his baby blue Lamborghini Hurricane with Nyan Cat decals.

There are also two Deadmau5-inspired quests for players to complete and three mau5head silhouette masks to collect. Taking the action into the physical world, a World of Tanks Blitz and Deadmau5 collaboration merch drop will be available here from November 29.

“World of Tanks Blitz has always been wild, rebellious and fearless,” said general manager Thaine Lyman. “This holiday, we’re shaking things up and giving our players a fresh twist on the season’s festivities.”

‘Familiars’ follows on from Deadmau5’s recently released ‘Jaded’ single and his ‘Some’ EP. Earlier this year, the musician said he considered removing his music from Spotify after the CEO made comments about the low cost of making music. “The cost of creating content was 25+ years of my life and much of those proceeds going to your company, you complete fucking idiot”, replied the artist.

In other news, an update for Microsoft PCs has made it impossible to play several huge games.
