Steven Gerrard has stressed the need for time to build his team's strengths following Michael Beale's appointment as assistant manager.

Gerrard's side faced upheavals after a period of poor results led to the departure of executive sporting director Mark Allen and assistant manager Dean Holden, with Beale stepping in amid these key management changes.

A shocking winless streak continues for Ettifaq, as they only scraped a draw against Al Riyadh on Sunday, marking their eighth game without a victory.

This beleaguered run culminated in their elimination from the King Cup by Al Jabalain, triggering a tactical overhaul that saw Gerrard reunite with trusted ally Beale, who joined him last week in hopes of rejuvenating the squad.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Gerrard acknowledged: "The club made decisions regarding the departure of Mark Allen and Dean Holden," adding, "The decision was also made to bring Michael Beale in who is a super coach, we spent years together previously and it's great to have him back with me. Now we need some time to develop and improve."

The former Liverpool captain is bracing his Ettifaq squad for a gruelling schedule, starting with a clash against league leaders Al Ittihad this Saturday.

Currently sitting in 12th place, just five points above the relegation zone and ten points behind the AFC Champions League spots held by Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr, it's a crucial match for Gerrard.

He will be eager for his team to put an end to Al Ittihad's impressive run, who have only suffered one defeat since September at the hands of their fierce rivals, Al Hilal.
