Ed Sheeran sends 'b***end' message to Ruben Amorim after interrupting Man Utd interview

Ed Sheeran has issued an apology to Ruben Amorim following an awkward mishap where he inadvertently interrupted the Manchester United head coach's first post-match interview. The 33-year-old, a die-hard Ipswich Town supporter and now minority stakeholder, was present at Portman Road for Sunday’s 1-1 draw.

Omari Hutchinson's deflected long-range strike cancelled out Marcus Rashford's 80th-second opener in Amorim’s debut managing United since his switch from Sporting earlier this month.

Unfortunately, Sheeran seemed unaware that Jamie Redknapp was interviewing Amorim live on Sky Sports when he burst onto the TV camera to greet his friend, leaving the United boss stunned.

The incident caused a stir among Red Devils fans who expressed their displeasure online, slamming the singer-songwriter as disrespectful.

Sheeran has since taken to Instagram to apologise for his blunder, writing on his Stories: "Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday.

Amorim’s arrival was the hot topic this weekend, with the head coach also calling for a reduction in media engagements post-match as he searches for more time to focus on coaching duties.

"This week, I spoke more to the media than I did in four years at Sporting. I just want to work with my players, nothing more," Amorim pleaded in East Anglia.

Reacting to his first Premier League match, the 39-year-old said: "I think my players were thinking too much. We lost some balls without pressure. But they really, really tried, and they want this.

"It's a tough league. You learn that in the first moment. My players were thinking too much in the game. You can feel it.

"Not just on the ball but where they are supposed to be. And that is hard. It's just two days with the team, so it's really hard. I think we needed more physicality in the first half.

"It's a tough match, we lost some balls without pressure. You have to control the ball and the tempo of the game. They didn't do it but they really tried.

"They are really trying and they want this. We have to try to from the first moment, we have to address the new idea and try to be better next year at the same stage."
