I'm A Celebrity's Dean McCullough branded 'disrespectful' over latest feud

I'm A Celeb: Dean has harsh words with Alan Halsall in tense scenes

DJ Dean McCullough has come under fire from Alan Halsall's Coronation Street colleague following a tense encounter this weekend. The two had a heated exchange after Dean delayed his camp duties in favour of a nap, leading to an uncomfortable situation.

While Dean was asleep, camp leader Alan tried to wake him up to help Loose Women's Jane Moore collect firewood. However, when he didn't instantly wake up, Alan questioned: "You don't fancy it? No?"

The radio star didn't reply which prompted Alan to go and assist Jane himself. Although it wasn't long before Dean woke and went to help, not happy with how Alan approached him, reports the Mirror.

Telling him he could go, Dean said: "Listen to me. If you're going to wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes me a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, all right?

"So you don't need to turn around to me and say, 'Do you not fancy it? OK?' And then turn around and walk away." It was clear Alan wasn't pleased with the situation and his fellow Coronation Street actor Andy Whyment has backed him up.

I’m A Celeb’s Alan Halsall ‘needs more airtime’ says Coronation Street co-star

The former I'm a Celebrity contestant told Lorraine: "The bit that got me was when he was in the Bush telegraph and basically said 'I was asleep and wee Tyrone from Coronation Street is standing over me'.

"I just thought that was a bit disrespectful. Al's a 42-year-old man and the way Dean was speaking to him was a bit like a child." However, it wasn't just Andy who shared his thoughts on the situation as Ant and Dec weighed in during an Instagram Live.

Although Ant commented that Alan was slightly passive aggressive, when it came to how Dean handled the situation, he added: "I wouldn’t stand for any of that… I would be like ‘shut-up’."

Elsewhere in the episode new campmates Maura Higgins and Rev. Richard Coles faced the first eating trial of the series for a chance to win a junk food buffet. Their arrival in camp resulted in some changes as new sleeping arrangements were made.

However, as Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan were chosen by the public to be the new campleaders, Alan and Tulisa Contostavlos were booted out of the Leaders Lodge. Sharing his thoughts on their friendship, Andy suggested there could be romance on the cards.

The soap star said: “Well they seem to be getting on really well, don’t they? We know they’ve been sharing the hideout at the top so I’m sure they’ve been having a few conversations there and obviously, they won the first trial together on the very first show.

"Listen, good luck to him. He’s obviously a single lad and I think Tulisa is single so we shall see what happens. Watch this space.” Could there be a jungle romance on the cards?

Currently, Danny is the frontrunner to win the show, with Coleen Rooney close behind. Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Coleen Rooney has been a notable mover in the outright betting for this year’s I’m A Celeb crown over the past few days.

“Rooney has seen her price quartered, as she was backed in from 10/1 to 5/2 over the weekend, edging ever-closer to market leader Danny Jones (EVS). Maura Higgins has also been popular with viewers and has been backed into 5/1 from 10/1.

“The same can’t be said for Dean McCullough, who, having received mixed reactions from the public after poor trial performances and a spat with Alan Halsall, has seen his odds fly out to 40/1.”

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! continues weeknights on ITV from 9pm.
