A BBC News presenter has announced her departure from the broadcaster after a "fantastic" five years.

Hannah Gray, a respected TV journalist, confirmed she will be leaving her role at the regional programme Look North, marking the end of her time in Yorkshire. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Hannah shared her bittersweet news with her followers as she looks ahead to new opportunities.

"LAST breakfast shift at BBC Look North! After a fantastic 5 years here in Yorkshire, we’re moving back to London in early December," she wrote.

"I will very much miss my amazing friends, colleagues, and the beautiful countryside here, but we’ll be moving closer to family and are really looking forward to catching up with old colleagues and friends in the capital."

While Gray has yet to reveal her exact plans, The Sun reports that she will be pursuing freelance journalism work after her move to London. However, she has remained tight-lipped about whether this will involve working with the BBC again.

Her former co-star, Abbie Dewhurst, also expressed her surprise and support, writing: "This has come around so fast!!! Can't believe you're heading back down south so soon xxx."

Hannah’s career took an entirely different direction before she became a TV journalist. Between the ages of 20 and 25, she was a professional dancer and performer, working out of Miami, Florida. Her talent led to a role with The Walt Disney Company, where she toured internationally, performing at iconic Disney destinations like Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Tokyo.

It comes just a day after news emerged that BBC's Mishal Husain has reportedly stepped down from her Radio 4 Today show, just days after Zoe Ball announced she is leaving her Radio 2 Breakfast show.

The 51-year-old has fronted BBC Radio 4's Today show since 2013 but is now believed to be having talks with bosses about a new role within the corporation.

An insider told The Times: "After 11 years Mishal has reached the point where the 3.30am alarm call is no longer a welcome noise."

They added: "She is very highly thought of and there will be an extremely big effort to make sure she’s accommodated well elsewhere."
