Strictly Come Dancing's Claudia Winkleman makes announcement moments into show

Strictly: Tess and Claudia introduce the show and judges

Claudia Winkleman delivered a bombshell to viewers just moments into tonight's episode of Strictly Come Dancing.

As Claudia and her co-host Tess Daly greeted the audience, Claudia took a brief pause before dropping a major update about the contestants.

She revealed: "For the first time in Strictly history, all our couples are entering this week of the competition having scored a ten."

The crowd erupted in excitement as Tess chimed in: "We still haven't seen the elusive 40 yet and there is only one group of people who can change that. So please welcome the judges."

Come Sunday night, one celebrity will face the music - and the outlook is grim for Pete Wicks and his dance partner, who kicked off the show, reports the Mirror.

Former reality TV star Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal find themselves on thin ice, with bookies suggesting they're likely to bow out this weekend.

Betway's Mike Reading commented: "Following the glitz and glamour of Blackpool and Wynne Edwards' elimination, the Strictly contestants are back in the ballroom to face another challenging week.

"This weekend, not only will the celebrities have to nail their usual routines, but they'll also take part in a Samba-thon, all in the hopes of making it through to everyone's favourite - Musicals Week.

"Reality star Pete Weeks is currently the 5/6 front-runner to be voted off the dance floor this weekend, despite having dodged the dance-off twice already this series. Hot on his heels is Montell Douglas, another contestant who has narrowly escaped elimination, now sitting at odds of 3/1 to Samba her way out of the contest."

Chris McCausland remains the top contender to make it through to next week's show after a stellar American Smooth performance at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, bagging an impressive score of 37 out of 40 from the judges.

Concerns mount for Pete, who kicked off the show, with several fans voicing their worries on social media. One supporter implored: "Please keep Pete in tonight, he is what strictly is all about, a none dancer learning along the way!"

"Pete opening the show AGAIN? ! Also way undermarked AGAIN," ranted one viewer, while another added, "Sadly the song choice let Pete down this week and the Tango was a little slow because of that. No way was that Tango worth an 8."

Another person agreed: "I agree I don't think that music did #Pete any favours!"

One more viewer expressed concern: "Pete could be in trouble this week - little for him to shine with in that choreography. #Strictly."

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
