John Stamos Defends Wearing Bald Cap to Support Dave Coulier
is defending his decision to wear a bald cap while visiting his Full House costar after the actor announced he was battling cancer.
Stamos, 61, said he was “shocked” by the backlash from fans, insisting to TMZ on Thursday, November 21 that his visit with Coulier was “incredible” and they “laughed so freaking hard” at the bald cap gesture.
window.split_ab_percentage = 1;Coulier, 65, was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a “very aggressive” cancer, in October and announced his diagnosis on November 14.
“He wanted me to come shave his head. I knew before, so I brought the bald cap from the studio,” Stamos told the outlet, adding that he “flew across the country to be with my brother” as a gesture of support.

“Regardless, I’m so shocked. First I’ll say, I’m just embarrassed and they’re embarrassing,” Stamos told the outlet of the response to his gesture. “But when I started seeing this blowback, I’m just like, ‘What?’ I couldn’t figure it out. I still don’t know 100%. What they should be doing instead of making silly little videos, or doing comments — they should call their doctor, make an appointment. I think that’s the whole point of this. It’s been Dave’s message.”

Stamos said while he usually doesn’t take note of online criticism, the negative response had been disheartening considering his intentions were to be there for a friend in a time of need.
“I don’t look at stuff [online]. I swear most of the time I don’t, but this one really hurt me mainly because I didn’t understand it,” Stamos said. “But the point is that I’m embarrassed for people that they waste time on this when all I was doing was cheering up a friend, and I’m sorry — I started to say ‘I’m sorry,’ I’m not sorry.”
