ITV This Morning's Cat Deeley stuns with surprise I'm A Celebrity admission

I'm A Celeb: Cat Deeley reveals she hasn't been invited on show

On Wednesday's edition of This Morning, Cat Deeley left her co-host Dermot O'Leary gobsmacked with an unexpected revelation about I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

As they discussed the latest instalment of the popular ITV jungle show, Dermot queried Cat on how she'd fare in the jungle, prompting Cat to confess: "You know what, I'd be terrible! In fact, they have never ever asked me. Never approached me, I mean considering how well I know the couple of guys, well, the one guy who 'runs the show apparently'. You'd think they would, wouldn't you?"

Dermot then disclosed that the two men in question had been talking about her on their Instagram Live the previous night, saying: "Well, those two guys were chatting about you on their Instagram Live last night, let's take a look!"

The subsequent footage showed I'm A Celeb hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly responding to a fan's suggestion that Cat should join the show, where they acknowledged she'd be good because she wouldn't be frightened by anything.

Following the clip, Cat revealed: "I did see that, I got on the old [phone]", and continued with a chuckle: "Ant text me back and said: 'Just in bed, heading to sleep, but would like to follow up and say you'd be great on it as you're a tough Brummie lass, the snakes and spiders should be scared of you!'", reports the Mirror.

"Then I responded: 'you are a' and I'm not going to say anything else about that", showing the message to Dermot who humorously retorted: "Oh Cat, not you, wash your mouth out!"

The 2024 edition of I'm A Celebrity kicked off earlier this week on Sunday. The ITV reality show, renowned for its stomach-churning eating challenges and spine-chilling trials, made a comeback with the first episode of the new series.

This year's line-up includes Dancing On Ice judge and former Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse, N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos, Loose Women's Jane Moore, and McFly star Danny Jones.

Joining them are other contestants such as Coleen Rooney, Coronation Street's Alan Halsall, Dean McCullough, Melvin Odoom, Barry McGuigan, Jane Moore, and GK Barry.

The launch comes amidst fans' concerns that one celebrity might quit the jungle just days into the new series. GK Barry was seen screaming her way through her inaugural jungle challenge in the launch episode, evidently petrified.

This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV X.
