A newly released teaser trailer has whipped up excitement, revealing that the third season will premiere in mere months and teasing what could be the most intense entry yet.

With an all-star cast featuring Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Elijah Wood from the second season, and new additions Hilary Swank and Joel McHale for the upcoming episodes, Yellowjackets is set to make its grand return on Valentine's Day (February 14th) 2025.

Yellowjackets quickly became a cult hit after its initial 2022 release, which chronicled the survival story of a high school girls' soccer team stranded in the Canadian wilderness following a plane crash.

The series delves into their extreme measures to survive over 19 months in the wild and fast-forwards 25 years to when the survivors must confront the demons of their past.

It has been hailed as one of the most gripping mystery thrillers of the decade, boasting an impressive 96 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Inverse hailed it as the "best cannibal thriller of the decade", explaining that "Yellowjackets managed to create a female-led survivor series that kept survival front and centre while weaving in a non-linear story, a massive conspiracy, and supernatural elements."

Forbes praised the show for being one of the top female-led series without falling into cliches: "It's one of the best female-led shows out there, in large part because it never engages in silly girlboss tropes and treats each of its characters like well-rounded (and deeply flawed) human beings.

"It's great. Do yourself a favour and give it a shot," they recommended, noting that the series made their list of top shows for 2022.

The Guardian lavished praise on the second season, with a five-star review: "even better than last time", they wrote, highlighting standout performances: "Juliette Lewis is sublime, Christina Ricci finds her perfect co-star and you're constantly kept on your toes with parallel timelines and tons of creepy thrills. What a follow-up!"

Regular TV audiences have also embraced Yellowjackets with avid enthusiasm, as one approval-filled opinion on Reddit showed: "Yellowjackets (2021) was a very pleasant surprise and one of the best horror series I've seen the past years."
