Antiques Roadshow star gives emotional cancer update as she says 'only way forward'
Antiques Roadshow legend Theo Burrell has had surgery to remove 90% of her brain tumour, and was warned she had just 12 to 18 months to live after diagnosis - but almost two and a half years later, she's still soldiering on.
In an emotional update on Instagram today, Theo admitted she's hoping for good news after suspecting the tumour was starting to grow back. Sharing a photo of an idyllic countryside scene at Dalkeith Country Park, the BBC star explained: "The last couple of weeks have involved a lot of down time and staying at home.
"I've just been really exhausted and needing sleep. I've ventured out at the weekends with the boys (pictured here) but today is my first day out and about on my own in two weeks," she exclaimed.
"My anxiety about my next scan has been very high but after days and days of worrying about every ache and pain I decided forgetting about cancer entirely (well as much as possible) was the only way forward," Theo continued. "This time next month I'll know whether I definitely have regrowth or (what turned out to be) the mysterious enhancement on my September scan is something else (scar tissue? necrotic tissue etc?)."
She concluded: "I'm hoping that having a plan will be slightly more reassuring than living in limbo - but who knows. Either way - hope, hope, hope x."

Antiques Roadshow's Theo Burrell has issued a cancer update (Image: INSTAGRAM)Fans stepped out of the shadows to offer her support amid her emotional admission, with one fellow survivor vowing: "Forgetting about cancer between scans is definitely the only way forward."
They continued: "I spent the first 2 years after diagnosis absolutely torturing myself whether it had come back or not. Now I try to forget about it and enjoy my life in the 3 months between scans.
"I've seen a man with [a brain tumour] before say 'I've only been given bad news once, the rest was just feedback' and it's always stuck with me. Hope your scan comes back okay."
Meanwhile, the brain_tumour_research Instagram account chimed in: "We’ve got our arms wrapped around you during this challenging time. Sending strength, hope, and so much love as you navigate the waiting and uncertainty.

"You are truly inspiring, and we’re here for you every step of the way."
Theo's son Jonah had been just a year old when she began to experience excruciatingly painful migraines and vision impairment.
Her accompanying nausea had been so severe that she'd feared food poisoning or a gastric virus, only to then be diagnosed with incurable cancer.
She admitted that she "cried until she was dry" but now she's determined to remain optimistic as she battles for survival, regarding every day of life as a gift.
