Ticketek Australia took website down due to "heightened threat level"

Ticketek Australia replaced its website with a maintenance message for over 24 hours this week after “a heightened threat level” was observed from system monitoring.

The ticketing company took down its website on Monday morning, replacing it with a statement declaring the site “is currently undergoing maintenance” and apologising “that the update is taking longer than anticipated”.

“Users may experience temporary disruptions,” it added.

Consumers first reported the major entertainment retailer's website was down on Monday morning with users taking to X to express their frustration.

Event promoters with sales running through Ticketek used their social media channels to ask for patience while the issues were sorted.

The company said just before 12.30pm AEDT on Tuesday that the cause was a security-related detection.

“We took this action as a precautionary measure in response to system monitoring indicating a heightened threat level,” it said in a statement cross-posted to its social media channels.

“Ticketek wishes to thank its customers and partners for their patience while our systems were temporarily offline.

“Our systems were back online earlier this morning, and we apologise for any inconvenience.”

iTnews reached out for comment from Ticketek Australia regarding the latest outage.

In June, Ticketek revealed a “cyber incident” that impacted customer information stored in a third-party cloud environment.
