Death in Paradise confirms return of beloved character in Christmas special
Death in Paradise has confirmed the guest line-up for the series' Christmas special - and a familiar face is returning to Saint Marie.
Jim Howick (Ghosts), Angela Griffin (The Wives), Marcus Brigstocke (The Unbelievable Truth), Steven Hartley (Happy Valley), Elizabeth Carling (Hotel Portofino), Michael Salami (Supacell) and Dex Lee (Doctors), will all spend Christmas in the Caribbean as they star in this year’s Christmas special of Death in Paradise.
They join brand new Detective Inspector Don Gilet in his first appearance as DI Mervin Wilson, alongside series regulars Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis, Danny John-Jules as Officer Dwayne Myers and Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey in the BBC Caribbean crime drama's festive special.
The episode will also see Dwayne joined by his father, Nelson, played by Ram John Holder, who will make his return to the BBC series.
The synopsis for the festival instalment reads: "We’re back on the beautiful island of Saint Marie, and this time with a new detective inspector in tow. Londoner Mervin Wilson ruffles some feathers as he clashes with the island’s way of life.

Nelson last appeared in Death in Paradise when Ardal O'Hanlon played lead detective Jack Mooney. However, Nelson and his son Dwayne left the island together to rebuild their relationship.
Dwayne appeared in the final episode of the latest series, which saw Neville Parker (Ralf Little) and Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert) exit. Dwayne waved to his colleagues as they sailed off into the sunset together.
Soon after Ralf's shock departure, BBC bosses confirmed Don Gilet would be taking his place, and filming with the new DI is currently underway.
Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
