Emma Raducanu beat Rebecca Merino in straight sets in the Billie Jean King Cup on Sunday to put Great Britain ahead in their quarterfinal clash with Canada, who won last year's edition.

Raducanu played the opening set confidently and wrapped it up with a dominant hold to love in just 28 minutes.

The second set was a tighter battle between the pair but Raducanu fought to take the win 6-0, 7-5.

Katie Boulter plays Raducanu's 2021 US Open final opponent Leylah Fernandez next, knowing a win would see the British team through to the semifinals.
