English golfer torn into for furious actions a day after Tyrrell Hatton snaps club
It’s not just Tyrrell Hatton in the firing line for his behaviour at the DP World Tour Championship. The LIV Golf player came in for severe criticism on Saturday after snapping his club following a pulled approach to the 15th.
That led to Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray saying live on air that the Englishman needed to change his ways, with pundit Paul McGinley also scathing.
But on Sunday, it was his compatriot Matt Wallace instead in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.

But any outside hopes of a late charge were then scuppered as he pushed his iron shot into a green side bunker.
His response was anything but dignified, slamming his club into the turf on the fairway and making a huge divot. To make matters worse, neither he or caddie Jamie Lane appeared to make any effort to repair the damage, with Wallace simply handing over his club as they walked away.

But fans online were soon taking aim at the 34-year-old, and even comparing his behaviour to Hatton’s.

It’s not the first time the conduct of Wallace has been questioned. At the Valspar Championship in Florida last year, he was heard shouting “shut the f*** up” at his caddie after messing up a shot.
Back in 2019, he also courted controversy at the British Masters. After missing a short putt on the final day, which ultimately cost him victory, Wallace proceeded to slam down his putter.

He was later forced to apologise, saying: “The way I reacted in banging my putter on the green on 18 was not right and, for that, I can only apologise.
“I'm really disappointed in the way I behaved. For 71 holes, I'd done really well, then let myself down badly with one petulant act.”
