Children in Need: Hilarious moment Mel says she just 'snotted'

BBC Children in Need was haulted live on air after TV presenter Mel Giedroyc suffered a mortifying blunder live on air.

On Friday night (November 15), the comedian was joined on stage by Ade Adepitan MBE, Vernon Kay, Chris Ramsey, Rochelle Humes and Lenny Rush to present this year's annual charity event.

The 2024 hosts were on-hand to oversee the three-hour special which featured hilarious sketches and star-studded performances throughout the night.

But just one hour into the programme, things took an unexpected turn when the This Morning host passed the show over the Mel and Vernon after sharing the fundraising efforts one eatery has completed.

As they welcomed viewers back, the former Great British Bake Off host suffered an awkward blunder when she "snotted" live on air.

Before she moved on to the next segment, Mel admitted: "Sorry, I've just snotted. Please excuse me" as she turned her back to the camera to clean up her face.

It didn't take long before she regained her composure as the studio erupted into laughter. She chuckled: "Sorry, we're live. Good." Vernon asked in utter shock: "You just what?" to which she awkwardly replied: "I just snotted."

The radio host immediately paused the show as he held his hand up before he turned his back to camera to take a closer look at Mel's embarrassed face.

After taking a closer inspection, he reassured her: "You're good, you're good, you're good" as Mel quickly moved on with the show.

Despite his reassurance, the presenter couldn't help but keep wiping her nose throughout the segment and looking away from the camera.

The dad-of-two couldn't help but feel sorry for Mel as he pulled her in for a side hug while she mumbled: "Help me" while he giggled his way through his last few lines of the segment.

It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter to chuckle at the embarrassing moment online. One user quipped: "'I've just snotted' THE funniest moment so far! I love Mel... & Vernon too for that matter! [giggling emoji] #ChildreninNeed."

Another agreed: "Mel Giedroyc probably providing the best laught of the night on #ChildrenInNeed [three cry-laughing emojis]". A third echoed: "It doesn't matter what else the BBC show tonight, nothing will top Mel's 'I've just snotted' #childreninneed."

Children in Need is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
