BBC Strictly's Wynne Evans addresses exit as he admits 'you're expecting it'

Strictly: Wynne Evans reflects on being in the dance off

Experiencing a brush with elimination, Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans revealed to Janette Manrara that he braces himself for departure every week, having found himself in the bottom two last Sunday.

Discussing his stint on the show and the impending routine for this weekend on the Strictly spin-off show, the opera singer expressed that he considers himself far from the best dancer, admitting that after his initial performance, he was preparing to exit after the first week.

Reflecting on the jolt of being in a dance-off after holding strong for eight weeks, he said: "Do you know what? I don't want to make light of being in the dance-off because nobody really wants to be in the dance-off.

"But as I said, on the night I expected to go on week one, pretty much. And so, since the first elimination, we have just been going, 'Do you know what? This could be our last dance on Strictly, so let's just get out there and have fun'."

He added: "And so you kind of expecting it at some point during the programme, so it was just one of those things, and we were like, really cool about it," reports the Mirror.

His dance partner Katya added her perspective, noting Wynne's composure and mentioning the formidable standard set by their competitors. "You were so calm and collected about it, and the competition is strong, and like I said, in my opinion, and the judges noticed the footwork, the frame, the skill that you picked up."

She further complimented him, asserting, "To me, it was one of your best dances because you're the best."

Compounding the drama of the season, Wynne and Katya unexpectedly withdrew from their slot on It Takes Two on Wednesday evening, with Dianne Buswell and Chris McCausland stepping in to fill the gap.

Host Janette swiftly addressed the unexpected change in line-up, telling viewers: "If you've got any questions like, 'Why are Chris and Dianne on when yesterday we said it was going to be Wynne and Katya? ' It's live TV, guys. You've got to roll with it, alright? Just roll with it."

The remaining celebrity contestants are gearing up for a dazzling showdown at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom this Saturday, each vying to secure their spot in the ongoing contest.

Yet, come Sunday, one more celebrity duo will face the music and depart the competition following the tension-filled dance-off.

In the previous weekend's show, Shayne Ward was sent packing after he ended up in the bottom two with Wynne.

The judges' opinions were split, ultimately leaving head judge Shirley Ballas to make the controversial call to save Wynne, which led to an uproar among the audience.

Following their departure, Nancy Xu shared her feelings on It Takes Two alongside Fleur East, stating: "This year, I've found all the contestants, between all of them, they have a really strong connection.

"They've built a bond of friendship and supported each other week by week, day by day. So I can't describe the feeling but I was gutted."

Shayne Ward also reflected on his journey: "I think just watching that, I'm going to miss it. I'm going to miss Nancy so much. It's amazing just to see how far we've come together and how she was able to turn these two left feet into one left and one right!"

Strictly's It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
