John Lewis Christmas advert leaves This Morning presenter in tears

Dermot O'Leary was left teary-eyed by the new John Lewis Christmas advert.

The 51-year-old presenter returned to This Morning on Thursday (November 14), teaming up with Cat Deeley as Ben Shephard takes a break from the show for his new series in New Zealand.

Joined by Nick Ferrari and Ashley James, they delved into the heartwarming new advert which has become a staple sign of the festive season for many Britons.

Dermot couldn't hold back his emotions, confessing, "I cried" while watching the emotional John Lewis campaign titled The Gifting Hour, showcasing a last-second present hunt for a beloved sister.

John Lewis has broken tradition after 17 years, featuring one of its own stores in the advert for the first time, with scenes filmed at their flagship store on Oxford Street this October, reports the Mirror.

The department store recently saw a lavish £6.5million refurbishment and premiered the sumptuous advert, crafted by Saatchi & Saatchi, following protagonist Sally's gift-seeking escapade that transcends reality, sparking nostalgic festive spirit among viewers.

John Lewis has unveiled its heartwarming Christmas advert, taking viewers on a nostalgic journey through the years. The ad follows a woman as she reminisces about her sister during various stages of life - from childhood Christmases and teenage tiffs to adult life and motherhood.

It captures the emotional rollercoaster of finding the perfect festive gift.

The advert concludes with a touching scene between the sisters, accompanied by the tagline: "The secret to finding the perfect gift? Knowing where to look".

In a departure from tradition, this year's soundtrack features 'Sonnet' by The Verve, aligning with the 90s vibe that permeates the campaign.

John Lewis is also tapping into the TikTok generation, launching a talent search for a cover star, with Richard Ashcroft set to judge the entries.

The lucky winner will collaborate with BMG to produce their own song, which will feature in a special version of the advert broadcast on Christmas Day.
