Man stabbed to death in London market attack named and pictured
A pensioner stabbed to death in a London market has been pictured for the first time.
Hilkiah McLeggan, 77, was fatally injured at East Street Market, Walworth, just before the minute’s silence on Remembrance Sunday.
‘I’m gone, it’s the end of my life,’ he said as he lay dying on the floor.
McLeggan, from Southwark, south London, died at the scene.
Two men suffered stab injuries in a stabbing spree that ended when a stallholder fought the attacker with a metal bar. One remains in critical condition.
Ali Musse, 66, of no fixed abode, was charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Musse spoke only to confirm his name and address via a Somalian interpreter at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh said: ‘This was a horrific incident where a man had lost his life and two other people received serious injuries.
‘The incident has understandably caused concern amongst the local community. There will be an increased policing presence in the Walworth area as we work alongside our partners to provide reassurance to local people and small businesses operating in East Street.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank brave members of the public who assisted police at the scene.’
