Ruben Amorim was influenced by three primary factors when deciding to part ways with Ruud van Nistelrooy this week, according to William Gallas. The former Arsenal and Chelsea defender has defended Amorim's difficult call to sack the Old Trafford icon, who has been joined out the door by several other coaches.

Van Nistelrooy was widely expected to depart based on his emotional farewell to Old Trafford after United beat Leicester City 3-0 on Sunday.

The Dutchman's reign as interim manager, following Erik ten Hag's sacking, was a success, bearing three wins against Leicester City (twice) and PAOK and a draw with Chelsea.

His strong relationship with the supporters grew during his short-lived return, and it felt like a full-circle juncture as he shared a powerful moment with the Stretford End on his final day.

Van Nistelrooy later marvelled that he finally got that opportunity, having left for Real Madrid as a player in vastly different circumstances in 2006.

However, his departure naturally upset some sections of the fanbase that believed he had plenty to offer Amorim at the dawn of a new era in M16.

Gallas disagrees, though, claiming the Portuguese boss understandably wants peers he trusts and knows he can work well with.

The ex-defender considers those two factors essential as he believes Amorim will know he won't have a limitless supply of time to steer United in the right direction.

"As a new manager coming into Man United, you will bring your backroom staff, all the people you know you can trust and work well with," Gallas told Express Sport.

Speaking on behalf of Genting Casino's blog, the Premier League winner added: "These people know how to talk to you, how to work around your ideas.

"Ruud van Nistelrooy will manage a club elsewhere when Ruben Amorim takes charge; it's normal.

"Especially as Amorim won't have a lot of time to impress, if he doesn't perform well within a year to two years, then he could be in trouble, you need your staff to help you in that time."

Amorim is set to be joined by five crucial cogs in his self-built Sporting empire in Manchester to replace Van Nistelrooy, Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel.

Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Paulo Barreira, Emanuel Ferro, and Jorge Vital were all spotted travelling to England with the 39-year-old.

Reports in Portugal claim Sporting analyst Eduardo Rosalino is also expected to make the switch.
