Bridget Jones fans all say same thing while 'bawling eyes out' over fourth film trailer
Bridget Jones fans have taken to Twitter (X) to share their excitement about the 2025 film, titled Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy - but there's one killer blow.
The latest installment, which is available for streaming from February 13 on Peacock in the US, won't have former favourite Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth) in the frame. The much-loved character - Bridget's husband and dad to her two children, was killed off in the original novel, leaving fans devastated.
Bridget played by Renee Zellweger alongside her on-screen husband, Colin, in the first three movies, but now just Renee is returning to TV screens. One fan with mixed feelings wrote on X: "I just jumped for joy for the first time in weeks, and then I remembered the plot of #BridgetJones Mad About the Boy and got sad all over again."
"I'm already bawling my eyes out…" agreed another. Asked in the trailer by one of her children whether she misses Mark Darcy "sometimes", she corrected: "All of the times!" - and that's how many fans of the series feel."
However, a third fan argued: "I'm glad they decided to adapt the third book because I remember quite enjoying it. And while I was mad they killed Mark off, I thought her and the teacher had good chemistry. Chiwetel is such a good choice too. I’m looking forward to this movie. #BridgetJones."

Renee Zellweger returns for the fourth Bridget Jones film (Image: Getty)Although he's been killed off pretty decisively in the book accompaniment by Helen Fielding, there's a possibility Mark could appear in flashback scenes.
In any case, newer cast members Emma Thompson, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall will join alongside original characters including Hugh Grant - and of course Renee, who plays Bridget herself.
Meanwhile, in spite of the disappointment over the loss, Hugh has vowed that the latest film is "the best one of the four".
He added to Entertainment Tonight at a red carpet event: "It's one of the best scripts I have read for in a long time."

The film will focus on Bridget's adventures navigating life, love, sex and relationships as a widowed single mother, while comforting her bereaved kids.
Hugh has already admitted he was "in tears" looking through the deeply emotional script.
His return almost didn't happen after his character was presumed dead following a brutal crash and ended up being missed out of the third movie altogether.
However, in the end, a last-minute newspaper headline confirmed that he'd been found alive.
Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is available on Peacock from February 13 and hits UK cinemas on February 14, in time for Valentines Day.
