Denim Tears Joins The Met for "Knowbody Nose" Capsule

On the heels of its Cactus Plant Flea Market collaboration earlier this month, Tremaine Emory's Denim Tears has joined forces with the Metropolitan Museum of Art to create a capsule collection inspired by its new exhibition, Flight Into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876-Now. Titled "Knowbody Nose," the line takes inspiration from the show's themes, with artistic illustrations depicting the mythology behind The Great Sphinx's missing nose.

The capsule keeps it short and sweet with a compact line of graphic ready-to-wear pieces and accessories. Among them, sweatshirts, T-shirts and tote bags feature an original image made by Emory, guided by the following question: "How does an artifact from Egypt, or anywhere from the ancient world end up miles away in a museum in a major metropolitan city?” Rounding out the range, a hat boasts the gallery's title across its brim, with Denim Tears and The Met iconography surrounding the head.

The collaboration is quite harmonious, as The Met's exhibition, which opens on November 17, features pieces from the Denim Tears x Levi's Season Three Fall 2023 collection, including Tracy's King Tut black leather vest and belt.

The Denim Tears x The Met "Knowbody Nose" capsule collection is now available to shop on Denim Tears' webstore, at Africa Diaspora Goods (176 Spring Street) and at The Met Fifth Avenue. Take a look at the lineup in the gallery above.
