LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton jokingly confronted a cameraman, asking him ‘what are you looking at’ during the third round of action at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Hatton had entered the third day of action in a strong position after hitting opening rounds of 64 and 68.

But, unlike other members of the field, the Brit had no reason to worry about qualifying for next week’s lucrative season finale in Dubai.

It’s perhaps why he was happy to crack a joke at the expense of the camera operator ahead of the event’s third round.

Featuring in a video posted to the DP World Tour social media page, Hatton was seen with a smile on his face, before quickly turning his grim into a grimace after noticing he was being filmed.

Staring down the lens, Hatton jokingly said: “What are you looking at?”

Before later adding: "Camera in the face kind of day? Thanks."

But the 33-year-old didn’t stop there with his chripish remarks, instead, he continued with: “I should see how long I can breathe in for for a side-on angle,” a cheeky reference to the fact he might not look his best on camera.

Hatton had a good reason to have a spring in his step, given he went on to finish fourth overall in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship standings.

A third-round score of 70 was followed by a fourth-round score of 64, which saw him surge up the leaderboard, eventually finishing two shots behind Paul Waring.

But it’s been an eventful week for Hatton both on and off the course, as news of an end to golf’s civil war might be edging closer.

It was reported by the Sun that the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund are on the brink of striking a deal worth £1billion.

The deal, if reports are true, would see Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund - who fund LIV - assume an 11 per cent stake in the Tour, as well as taking two spots on the PGA’s board.

But Rory McIlroy, who has been a vocal critic against the LIV project, played down the speculation.

Speaking during the Championship in the United Arab Emirates, the Northern Irishman said: “I think I would have heard if there was [an agreement].

"I know he's briefing the transaction committee tonight, maybe some news comes out of that But as far as I'm aware I haven't heard a thing."
