HKO issues Standby Signal No. 1
The Observatory issued the Standby Signal No. 1 at 12.40pm today as Tropical Cyclone Yinxing edges closer to the coast of southern China. Under the combined effect of Yinxing and the northeast monsoon, it will be windier over the coast of Guangdong and on high ground over the weekend. Seas will be rough with swells and there will be showers. The Observatory said that since the circulation of Yinxing was relatively small, whether a higher tropical cyclone signal would issued would depend on how close the storm got to the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong.
