A Place in the Sun buyers refuse to make offer on 'perfect' home after spotting major flaw

A Place in the Sun couple admit view is 'disappointing'

A Place in the Sun's property hunt came to an abrupt halt when buyers identified a significant drawback in what they initially dubbed the 'perfect' holiday home in Greece.

In Thursday's instalment of the popular Channel 4 series, presenter Jasmine Harman was tasked with assisting builder Mark and financial planner Sally in their quest for an idyllic abode under the Grecian sun.

The couple's property search unfolded in the scenic eastern Peloponnese, armed with a £200,000 budget and specific criteria: walking distance to local amenities, proximity to the sea, and ample space for visits from any of their six children.

Their ideal home also boasted a wraparound patio garden, complete with a barbecue area and an elevated front terrace. Adding to the appeal, the property was listed at a tempting £148,500, well within their financial reach.

Initially thrilled by the price, Sally praised the house as 'perfect' during the viewing, reports the Mirror.

However, their enthusiasm changed after discovering a glaring issue upstairs. Sally expressed her 'disappointment' with the obstructed view, lamenting to Jasmine: "I can see this working but I am struggling with a white shed in front of me."

She elaborated on her concerns, adding: "It's a lovely house but it's just quite not in the right place. It's got a view but there is something in front of it that we can't change."

Mark chimed in, remarking: "And it's far away from the beach, restaurants and things."

Ever hopeful, Jasmine queried: "So is this one in the running?"

Bringing the house hunt to a halt, they both concurred with a firm: "No". Jasmine noted: "So you like this style and you are happy with the space but the drawbacks really are the view and you want to be closer to everything."

Sally affirmed: "Yes that would be perfect." Ultimately, the couple chose not to place an offer on any of the homes, so the quest for their ideal vacation abode marches on.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays from 4pm on Channel 4.
