Sky News presenter has giant bug crawl on shoulder live on air

Sky News presenter Gillian Joseph was shocked when an unexpected visitor interrupted her broadcast.

The 55-year-old was live from Washington DC as she continued covering the US election following Donald Trump's victory in the US

The 78-year-old completed a historic win in the US presidential election against Kamala Harris, becoming the second ever president to serve two non-consecutive terms. Joseph brought Sky News viewers exclusive coverage of the election, interviewing a number of guests to find out how they felt about Trump's victory.

But during the live broadcast, Joseph was surprised as a large bug landed on her shoulder. The presenter remained calm before a member of the crew swiftly wiped the bug off her shoulder.

Trump, who served as president from 2017 to 2021, vowed to lead the "golden age of America" after launching the "greatest political movement of all time."

"This was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There's never been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond. And now it's going to reach a new level of importance because we're going to help our country heal," he said.

He continued: "We're going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We're going to fix our borders.

"We're going to fix everything about our country, and we've made history for a reason tonight. And the reason is going to be just that. We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible."

Sir Keir Starmer was one of the first to congratulate Trump on his victory. The Prime Minister spoke to the President-elect on Wednesday night (November 6) and "fondly recalled their meeting in September", Downing Street said.

A Downing Street spokeswoman said: “The Prime Minister spoke to President-elect Donald Trump this evening to congratulate him on his historic victory.

"The Prime Minister offered his hearty congratulations and said he looked forward to working closely with President-elect Trump across all areas of the special relationship.

"From defence and security to growth and prosperity, the relationship between the UK and US was incredibly strong and would continue to thrive for many years to come, the leaders agreed.

The Prime Minister also reflected on the situation in the Middle East and underscored the importance of regional stability.

"The leaders fondly recalled their meeting in September, and President-elect Trump’s close connections and affinity to the United Kingdom and looked forward to working with one another."
