Sky The Day of The Jackal cast includes Oscar winner and James Bond star

Sky's new big budget drama The Day of the Jackal includes an extensive cast including a Oscar winner, stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and acting royalty. 

In a modern reimagining of the iconic thriller from 1973, The Day of the Jackal sees MI6 track and hunt down The Jackal following a high-profile political assassination. 

The series, shot on location in London, Budapest and across Croatia is described as a "thrilling cat-and-mouse chase" between the elusive assassin and a special agent.

With an extensive cast, some roles have been publically disclosed to viewers, but there are a few characters with their identities under wraps. 

This is who appears in The Day of the Jackal ahead of its release on Thursday (November 7) on Sky TV and NOW. 

Eddie Redmayne plays The Jackal

The Jackal is a notorious assassin who lives a normal double life away from his murderous career path. The assassian is able to blend in with a crowd and change his appearance with various disguises.

He is a man who prefers to work alone, considering each of his missions an artform.

Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything in 2014 and is also known for playing Newt Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts film series.

The actor from London Eddie Redmayne is also known for roles in Les Misérables, The Danish Girl, and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Redmayne recently completed a stint on Broadway as Emcee in a revival of Cabaret.

After the assassination, MI6 agent Bianca joins in the hunt for the hitman. With an expertise in firearms and interest in the case, Bianca finds herself engrossed in the global pursuit to catch him. 

Her determination to find and capture The Jackal overshadows everything, turning into an addiction that has the potential to take over her life.

Lashana Lynch is a British actress who is best known for her roles in Captain Marvel and the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Woman King, Matilda: The Musical, and James Bond movie, No Time to Die.

Úrsula Corberó plays Nuria

Nuria is The Jackal's partner who is "someone at the heart of The Jackal’s personal life, entirely unaware of who he truly is".

Corberó is a Spanish actress who has been working for over 20 years, but she reached international fame for her role as Tokyo in Netflix hit Money Heist.

She has since starred in shows including Snatch, Burning Body, and Mr and Mrs Smith.

Charles Dance plays Timothy Winthrop

Charles Dance OBE plays the mysterious Timothy Winthrop in the new Sky series. Not a lot of information is available about his role in the series.

The renowed British actor is best known for his roles of Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones and Lord Mountbatten in The Crown.

Dance has also appeared in other films and TV shows including The Imitation Game, The Widow, Strike Back, Trinity, Last Action Hero, Alien 3, The King’s Man, and James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only.

Chukwudi Iwuji plays Osita Halcrow, a member of MI6. 

The Nigerian actor recently played villian High Evolutionary in Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with other credits in Designated Survivor, When They See Us, The Split, Peacemaker, John Wick: Chapter Two, and Evil.

The wider cast includes The Crown’s Lia Williams as Isabel Kirby and The Kite Runner’s Khalid Abdalla as Ulle Dag Charles.

Other actors include The Walking Dead actor Eleanor Matsuura, Andor’s Jonjo O’Neill, Slow Horses star Nick Blood as Vince, Classified’s Sule Rimi and EastEnders actress Florisa Kamara.
