Strictly Come Dancing's JB Gill exposes pre-show 'ritual' wife tells him not to do

LW: JB Gill says he always looks for his wife in the audience

On the latest episode of Loose Women, Coleen Nolan, Charlene White, Brenda Edwards, and Judi Love chatted with JB Gill and Lauren Oakley about their fresh dance partnership on Strictly Come Dancing. This new pairing follows Amy Dowden's exit from the competition due to an injury.

In their television debut as a duo, JB revealed a pre-show ritual that his wife has urged him to abandon.

Judi commented: "Your wife is a dancer, you have a special ritual that you do before you go on?"

Charlene interjected with a quip, questioning whether this ritual was suitable for daytime viewers, which elicited a chuckle from JB who assured it was family-friendly.

JB explained: "As I come down the stairs to do my walk down, I always try and look for her in the audience. She always says to me 'Don't do that because if I'm not sat in that place, you'll be like this (shakes head) the whole time!'"

He continued: "I did it as a kid! I always used to look for my mum or my dad or someone on the sidelines. I think it's just a habit that's died hard, usually, I find her pretty quickly then it erases all the nerves."

Judi probed further about his wife's reaction to his participation in the BBC show. JB confessed that she was thrilled, sharing that competing on Strictly Come Dancing had been a long-held aspiration of his, reports the Mirror.

Last weekend saw JB and Lauren dazzle the audience with a Bruno Mars medley during Icons Week, scoring a remarkable 39 points.

Despite the challenges faced, they discussed Lauren stepping in for Amy.

He remarked: "It's one of those things, of course, no one would've ever wished for an outcome like that, but the show must go on and you have to deal with it. The most important thing for us is that Amy gets better and gets time to rest."

Lauren admitted that adapting to each other has been necessary as her body shape differs from Amy's.

She elaborated: "It's also about getting used to the teaching style that I use and trying to understand how JB listens and understands things in the training room."

This weekend will see JB Gill and Lauren Oakley perform a Samba to Sergio Mendes' 'Mas Que Nada'.

Although JB and Lauren have sailed through for another week, it marked the end of Sam Quek's time in the competition.

The former Morning Live star was up against Montell Douglas in the dance-off, however, the judges decided to save the Gladiator star instead.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday 9th November on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, starting at 6.35pm.

Loose Women continues weekdays on ITV from 12:30pm.
