Mohamed Salah is reportedly being eyed up by Al-Hilal, and the Saudi Pro League team want to get their hands on him ahead of next summer’s Club World Cup. The Liverpool attacker has just eight months remaining on his contract at Anfield and is yet to pen fresh terms with his current employers.

Salah has been in inspired form during the early part of the campaign and bagged his ninth goal of the season against Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 32-year-old cut inside Pervis Estupinan on the edge of the penalty area and thumped a shot beyond Bart Verbruggen in the away goal as Liverpool came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory.

Following the match, Salah took to Instagram and hinted that he may have a transfer away from Anfield on his mind as he wrote: “Top of the table is where this club belongs. Nothing less. All teams win matches but there's only 1 champion in the end. That's what we want.

“Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.”

Ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup, which takes place from mid-June until mid-July following a change of format, FIFA have agreed to open an extra transfer window to allow clubs to sign players for the tournament.

And, according to talkSPORT, Al-Hilal plan to take FIFA up on the new transfer loophole to snap up Salah. The Saudi club could therefore attempt to sign the blockbuster star between June 1 and June 10, with the Club World Cup getting underway on Sunday, June 15.

Saudi Pro League sporting director Michael Emenalo has a good relationship with Salah and is leading the drive to take him to the Middle East. And there is an expectation that the Saudi Pro League would also be able to secure a lucrative deal to sell television rights to Egypt if the forward is plying his trade in the kingdom.

But Liverpool want the player to sign a new deal to remain in England after rejecting a £150million bid from Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023.
