Strictly's Amy Dowden supported by BBC star as she makes heartbreaking announcement

Amy Dowden has received an outpouring of support after it was announced that she had to withdraw from the Stictly Come Dancing due to a foot injury.

The 34-year-old Welsh dancer, who is believed to be in remission from breast cancer and also suffers from Crohn's disease, had to miss last weekend's show after collapsing backstage.

On Monday's (November 4) episode of the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, it was confirmed that Amy would not be returning for the remainder of the series. A spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing stated: "Sadly, Amy Dowden MBE will not be partaking in the rest of the competition this year."

"While Amy focuses on her recovery following a foot injury, fellow Professional Dancer, Lauren Oakley, will step in as JB's dance partner. The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in Strictly are always the utmost priority. The whole Strictly family sends Amy love and well wishes."

Amy later posted a lengthy statement on her official Instagram page, revealing that the show helped her "feel like herself again" after undergoing chemotherapy treatment. She also paid a heartfelt tribute to her celebrity partner, JB Gill.
