Last year, Taylor teased the release of Slipknotâs lost album âLook Outside Your Windowâ.
It was recorded by the frontman, Sid Wilson, Jim Root and Shawn âClownâ Crahan at the same time as the group were working on 2008âs âAll Hope Is Goneâ. At one point, Taylor tried to blend the two records into one, but the âsuper experimental, vibeyâ tracks didnât gel. To date, only one track from the sessions has been released â âAll Hope Is Goneâ bonus track âTil We Dieâ.
Previously speaking with NME, Taylor gave a further update and said itâs partly his fault that the record hasnât been released yet.
When asked about the record, he replied: âItâs actually funny that you bring that up. I was talking to Clown about it the other day and he goes, âOne of the reasons it hasnât come out is because you keep putting shit out which keeps conflicting with when I want to release it!â I was like, âFuck dude, why didnât you tell me?â He says, âFuck, Taylor â you just got too much shit!â Itâs sounding like heâs got a release date that he can finally lock in and I have promised him that I wonât release anything that will ruin that. I think itâs going to be next year â finally, man!”
Taylor continued: âI just went back and listened to all that stuff and itâs so dope and so different. People going into this thinking it sounds like âSlipknotâ Slipknot are so wrong. It doesnât sound like anything Slipknot have ever done, thatâs why itâs its own thing. To me, it really is the long-lost album. The music is so beautiful, it probably has some of my favourite melodies that Iâve done, and people are really going to dig it. Clown did a really good job.â
Back in June, Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan gave another update in regard to the lost album and shared in a Reddit AMA: âThe only reason âLook Outside Your Windowâ has not come into this reality is because it is a timeless album that allows it to be presented at anytime. Up until now things weâve been doing has been taking priority. It has to come out, I promise it will come out soon.â
NME spoke to Clown last December, where he told us about the status of âLook Outside Your Windowâ: âItâs definitely arriving next year. You have my word. The artâs been done. Itâs been mixed. Itâs been mastered. It is definitely coming out in 2024 and itâs such a great album. Corey is my favourite singer ever, and youâll never hear him sing in the same way as on this album, so itâs been worth holding it back. Itâs such a different, timeless project.â
He recently opened up about the bandâs follow-up to 2022âs âThe End, So Farâ, and shared: âThe good news is, like, weâve reached a point where weâve accomplished everything we wanted to try for ourselves. So we wanted to leave the book open to everything. And I think that weâve really accomplished that. So now I think because of the lineup and where weâre at and what weâve done, I have a really, really spiritual feeling about this next one.
âSo, I feel like itâs gonna be â not that anyone has not liked or liked what weâve done, Iâm just saying I have a feeling this one is much needed for everybody. And I think itâs gonna be widely accepted. So Iâm very excited. Especially with Eloy [Casagrande] being in the band and the other guys, thereâs a lot being brought to the table, and that is very, very exciting.â
In other news, Slipknot fans recently reacted to the bandâs new âSâ logo featured on their new merch drop, with many less than happy with the design.
