Bubba Watson handed new role as announcement made following LIV Golf star's relegation
Bubba Watson will be back on the course and on screens despite being relegated from the LIV Golf circuit.
Having joined the Saudi Arabian-backed tour as a captain, Watson cannot be officially kicked from the circuit, but the RangeGoats GC skipper’s future is in doubt and it remains to be seen whether he will compete in a fourth season.
He is in negotiations with LIV chiefs and is one of six players who have shifted their focus to the Asian Tour for this week's International Series event at the Indonesian Masters.

But Watson, however, has also found priorities elsewhere. The two-time Major winner has been named as the on-course reporter for the next edition of ‘The Match’.

Eight celebrities will take to the court this month in Charles Barkley, Bill Murray, Mark Wahlberg, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Phelps, Nate Bargatze, Ken Griffey Jr and Blake Griffin.

Former Masters champion Trevor Immelman will be on commentary duties.
The celebrities will compete in two-vs-two scramble match play for the quarter-finals, before semis and the final which is an individual competition.
For Watson, the event will be viewed as a welcomed distraction from his failings in LIV. With his future in the series very much at risk, a decision is expected to be made sooner rather than later on his 2025 involvement.
"As everyone knows I have really enjoyed playing in tournaments overseas and so I am really excited about playing in Indonesia for the first time," Watson said last month as he confirmed plans to compete in Asia. "I enjoy coming to Asia and soaking in the sights and sounds and also seeing the diverse mixture of players out here.

"The BNI Indonesian Masters plays a big part in The International Series, which provides a pathway onto the LIV Golf League. I'm a big believer in LIV Golf and I'm proud of the impact it has had on the game of golf worldwide."
In August, Watson vowed to continue playing for as long as possible, though may have one eye on a future career in the media through his duties at ‘The Match’.
"I am going to play until they kick me out,” Watson expressed this summer. “I love helping the young guys. They are all trying to be better and also better at golf. I get to influence three golfers in life, they are all parents and young dads. I want to be there for them and if they have a problem, I want to be able to help them."
