Coronation Street's gripping murder puzzle has caught the attention of none other than Fern Britton.

The iconic ITV series Coronation Street has viewers on the edge of their seats after the demise of the villainous solicitor Joel Deering, turning the storyline into a tantalising whodunnit. She posted: "Just been having a catch up with Corrie , over lunch. So, what is going on? Who murdered Joel? Is he actually dead?

"Who identified the body, Kit? Why did Dee-Dee buy a tin of spaghetti hoops and a some custard? Feeding a chained up Joel in a basement? I'm exhausted..."

Fern later doubled down on her theory, declaring: "I don't think he's dead!", while another voice in the conversation was convinced: "Dee-Dee murdered him!"

Fans have been spinning all manner of conjectures to explain the peculiar grocery choices of Dee-Dee, ranging from secret pregnancies alleging Joel's paternity, to quirky dietary preferences. A fan speculated: "She's pregnant," reports the Liverpool Echo.

While others lightheartedly suggested: "Spaghetti hoops and custard, must be a northern cuisine."

A particular viewer expressed frustration at the pacing of the storyline: "Wish they would hurry up and reveal that Joel is still alive. If he was dead then why didn't they show him getting whacked over the head with a crowbar at the start? This isn't how a whodunnit is done!"

Moreover, there's chatter about a potential plot twist involving a doppelganger. One fan mused: "Joel might have a twin he's killed off and so still might be alive!" And, capturing the mood of many, an individual confessed: "I'm not convinced Joel is dead. There I finally said it!"

Coronation Street has at last revealed the truth behind Lisa Swain's enigmatic bruises. She confided in Carla, saying: "I got itchy feet waiting for uniform to find Joel so I went looking for him. I didn't find him but what I did see is some bloke trying to snatch this woman's bag.

"Then he got in his car. I was trying to clock the registration plate and he clipped me on the side as he drove off. Hence the cracked ribs. I didn't report it because I just - I didn't want to be made to have time off."
