The Best Shakeouts, Pop-Ups and Parties Around the 2024 New York Marathon
While some prefer to stay off their feet in the days leading up to the marathon, others in town for the race are eager to take in everything. On Sunday, November 3, another 50,000 runners will take on the New York City Marathon and, once again, there’s a stacked calendar of pop-ups, shakeouts and after-parties, along with panels, live podcast tapings and even post-race portraits.
To help you keep track of everything that’s going on, Hypebeast has compiled a list of the most compelling events going down this week ahead of the marathon’s running, with RSVP/more info links where applicable.

What’s Going On: Runners can head to the Javits Convention Center to pick up their bibs, as well as peruse gear and accessories. As the official sponsor of the expo, New Balance will be front and center but the space will also host other running brands, including adidas, ASICS, Saucony, Ciele and more.

What’s Going On: Celebrate ahead of the marathon at the race’s finish line. Attendees can nab a grandstand view to watch the Parade of Nations, which features runners from around the world, followed by a fireworks display.

What’s Going On: Made-in-New York running label MILER is selling its wares in a sleek storefront in Chinatown. Visitors can pick up staples like the half tights and shorts, as well as the brand-new Navy Collection. As virtually every other brand wraps up their pop-up post-marathon, locals can stay tuned for group runs and gatherings well into late November.

What’s Going On: In addition to the Trackhouse flagship store in Brooklyn, Tracksmith will be operating a pop-up in the Upper West Side, and both will host shakeout and post-race parties. To top it off, on race day, the first runner to make it back to the Trackhouse earns a cold beer, a commemorative robe and their name engraved on the Bobbi Gibb trophy.

What’s Going On: On is giving runners an up-close look at the LightSpray technology that powers its ultralight racing shoe, the CloudBoom Strike LS. LightSpray, in layman’s terms, uses a robotic arm to spray an upper onto a sole. Previously, the sole LightSpray machine was housed at On’s Zurich headquarters but the brand has unveiled its second-ever machine in New York, where runners can witness the manufacturing process in-person. There’s also a stacked schedule of athlete exhibitions, short film screenings and shakeouts.
