ITV This Morning fans left stunned over Dermot O'Leary's 'unrecognisable' makeover

This Morning opens with Halloween-themed sketch

This Morning viewers were forced to do a double take on Thursday's episode as Dermot O'Leary unveiled an unrecognisable Halloween transformation.

The ITV morning programme kicked off with a hair-raising Halloween theme, featuring 51-year-old Dermot, alongside Alison Hammond, as well as fellow celebrities Gyles Brandreth and Sam Thompson, all undergoing spooky makeovers.

Dermot's Frankenstein-inspired costume was the talk of the day, with the host sporting green face paint, a dark wig, facial prosthetics, and a ghoulish ensemble, prompting viewers to do a double take.

Social media was abuzz with reactions, as one viewer tweeted: "Took me a while to realise that was Dermot #ThisMorning", while others praised his look with comments like: "Dermot looks brilliant #thismorning" and "Dermot looks fantastic! #thismorning". One fan even admitted: "I didn't realise that was Dermot to begin with! #ThisMorning".

Meanwhile, Alison couldn't hide her admiration for Dermot's costume on the show, exclaiming: "You look amazing, you look so so good!" to which Dermot quipped in response: "It's almost worth the fact we had to come in at 5am this morning", leading Alison to correct him: "You came in at 6am! I'm very impressed, you look great, when exactly are you getting ready?", reports the Mirror.

Dermot humorously remarked on his heeled boots, telling Alison that it was the first occasion he stood taller than her on This Morning. The show's Halloween special saw the duo chatting with a real-life exorcist, Sam taking on a World Record challenge, and Phil Vickery whipping up some eerie treats in the kitchen.

It comes as in a surprising turn of events, This Morning concluded earlier than usual on Wednesday, wrapping up at 12:15pm instead of its regular 12:30pm slot. Dermot broke the news to viewers, stating: "That's it from us, finishing a little bit earlier today for an ITV news special."

The programming shake-up also affected Loose Women, which was taken off the air to accommodate the ITV news special covering The Chancellor's Budget 2024.

It comes as regular This Morning anchors Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley are on a short hiatus from their presenting roles during the October half-term, leaving Friday favourites Alison and Dermot to take over for the week, which has included a series of Halloween-themed features.

This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on both ITV and ITV X while Loose Women follows at 12:30pm.
