ETTC: Host 'almost' ends search as buyer reacts to feature

Escape to the Country presenter Sonali Shah brought a property search to a halt, joking "let's go back" after an unexpected detail left the buyers speechless.

In Friday's episode (October 25) of the popular BBC show, Sonali was tasked with helping a couple find their dream home in the tranquil Welsh Borders.

Carpenter Scott and his librarian and virtual PA wife Julie had their hearts set on starting afresh in Wales, having resided in Epsom Surrey for the previous 16 years.

The dance-enthusiast pair, who first crossed paths in 2001, were attracted to the Wye Valley and Monmouthshire, but remained open to properties on either side of the Welsh Borders.

With a budget of £620k, they sought a detached family home with at least three bedrooms, close to a village, and crucially, it needed an outdoor building for Scott's workshop. They also desired a large garden and land for a potential holiday let business, reports Wales Online.

Discussing their reasons for the significant move, Scott expressed his desire for more space to grow his business. He also shared: "I grew up in a town called Monmouth so I've been trying to get back and I've finally dragged Julie back here.Julie admitted that she wasn't bothered about the view, she added: ".

Julie confessed that she wasn't overly concerned about the view, stating: "I would love somewhere with land or a little stream but I'm not too fussed about the view but as long as we are in nice surroundings."

Sonail organised numerous property tours that ticked all boxes for the couple, yet during one visit, the TV star expressed: "Lets not see this house." As they arrived at the driveway, Julie admired: "And a lovely view over there."

To which Sonail highlighted: "And you didn't even want a view."

Admitting a change of heart, Julie responded: "I didn't even want a view. I wasn't even worried about that but now it's here. Sonail: "Let's go back then and not see this house."

Despite falling in love with the property, it was the Mystery house that they fell in love with even more.

The captivating Mystery house was located in the Brecon Beacons National Park, less than six miles from the bustling market town of Hay-on-Wye.

This charming barn conversion boasted a £615,000 price tag and had all the features the couple desired, and it sweetened the deal being £500k underneath their maximum budget.

Julie enthused: "It does take your breath away." She noted a single drawback: "The only negative is that it is in the middle of nowhere but It's the perfect house."

Ultimately, they disclosed plans to arrange a second showing for the idyllic property.
