Eamonn Holmes' brutal King Charles remark leaves outraged GB News fans 'switching off'
King Charles III has paused his cancer treatment to embark on his latest royal tour, and footage has just surfaced of himself and Queen Camilla disembarking a flight from Australia to Samoa.
Eamonn Holmes presented the GB News coverage of the occasion this morning, but his "attitude" left some fans threatening to switch channels. It's Charles and Camilla's first tour of Samoa together - but as Eamonn waited for the couple to leave the aircraft, he joked: "Knowing our luck, they'll open the door and the King'll fall down the stairs!"
Eamonn also described the King's role as "draining", before making comparisons to himself as a person who is constantly recognised by members of the public. "Speaking as someone who's mobbed almost everywhere I go, it can be seriously draining!" he quipped.
"Being nice to everyone, trying to remember everyone's name - after a few hours of that, you go wooof!" he exclaimed, making a sound to mimic exhaustion. The GB News host added: "I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, I really wouldn't."
He quickly received a backlash on Twitter (X), with one viewer writing: "OMG sooo boring, Eamonn & 2 lefties. Switched off. Talktv is far far better." (sic) Another was more blunt, simply writing: "Yawn."

He had toured Australia, where the image of himself and Camilla was projected onto the iconic Sydney Opera House building in his honour, before heading for a flight to Samoa.

Samoa is part of the Commonwealth, but it has been independent since 1962.

The King and Queen were greeted by Samoa’s prime minister, Afioga Fiame Naomi Mataafa, when they arrived from their Royal Australian Air Force flight.
The couple posted a social media message ahead of their trip, saying: “As we head towards Apia, we can’t wait to visit Samoa for the first time together and to experience the warmth of ancient traditions with your remarkable people."
They added: "Feiloa’i ma le manuia", which translates roughly to "keenly looking forward to meeting the Samoan people”.
They've received a warm welcome so far, ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
