Sky Sports golf pundit 'could get in trouble' as Open hero's ball lands in awkward spot

Sky Sports golf pundit Wayne 'Radar' Riley did not quite know what to say when Dan Brown's ball landed in an unexpected spot at the Andalucia Masters.

Brown, whose stock skyrocketed with an unexpected top-10 finish on his major debut at The Open this year, was in the thick of the final-round action and hunting down his second victory on the DP World Tour on Sunday.

But his approach shot on the 16th launched out of the rough, flew the green altogether from 119 yards and bounced down the back of a female spectator's chair.

Talking viewers through the shot, Riley said: "It came out like a bullet! It's on a lady's... look, I could get in all sorts of trouble here. I'm not going to do it. But it's on a lady's chair and behind her back and... the bottom of the chair. And she's sitting very, very still. There's no playing this one as it lies."

Rules officials eventually asked the spectator to stand up, and the ball dropped out of the back of her chair and into the greenside rough. Brown then regained his composure and played a deft chip to around five feet.

The 30-year-old dropped a shot in the final three holes to finish 19-under for the tournament, two behind Julien Guerrier and Jorge Campillo on 21-under.

The Frenchman and his Spanish counterpart contested a marathon play-off to decide the winner, with Guerrier taking it at the ninth attempt after they both parred the first eight holes, making it the joint-longest play-off in DP World Tour history.

Guerrier had been waiting 19 years since his first DP World Tour start for an overall victory, and the 39-year-old was over the moon with his performance.

"I can't believe it," he said. "Jorge is a great player. I knew it would be really hard because his putting is amazing and also my iron game was not in good shape today. But my putting was really good so I was trying to do my best and I'm really, really happy.

"On the last putt I was thinking of my kids to give me the strength to hole it and I did so thanks to my family and my team. It's been a long wait and I'm really happy."
